With its latest addition McDonalds now operates in 119 countries.
Located in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s commercial center is America’s symbol of capitalism. The McDonalds branch is a 24hr drive through service and will be featuring some of its usual menu classics as well as additional items to cater local tastes. Menu items are priced at an average $1.90-2.84
Vietnam presently plays hosts to other western fast food chains such as Subway, Starbucks, Burger King, Domino’s Pizza and KFC. The move highlights Vietnam’s hunger for Western consumer brands and the attractions for foreign investors. Despite the Vietnamese economy’s recent slowdown, foreign brands consider Vietnam as one of Asia’s largest consumer with significant untapped potential.
The McDonalds will be run by Prime Minister’s son in law – Henry Nguyen who worked at a McDonald’s restaurant as a teenager in United States where his family fled at the end of the war.
