In a remarkable interview with Industry Leaders, Alexia Cooper, CEO of Bell Solar, speaks about the energy industry’s impressive response to the employee-owned company, and analyzes the potential impact of the company in the “industry by revolutionizing power availability and the construction industry as a whole.”
Industry Leaders: How far do you think Bell Solar has been able to reach its goal as of now? What further milestones according to you are still essential to be achieved?
Alexia Cooper: During 2020, Bell Solar was able to grow 416% compared to 2019. We expanded to all parts of Nevada, including the more remote areas, to help more homeowners join the sustainable energy revolution. Our next milestone is our donation goal of $100,000 to GivePower. We have pledged to donate $80 per install towards GivePower’s mission “to install solar energy technologies that enable essential services critical for community health and vitality.” Once we reach that goal, we will be going on a trek to Nepal to install a solar system to provide electricity to a remote village.
Industry Leaders: What were some key challenges you faced while going all-in for sustainability?
Alexia Cooper:With all of the growth that the solar industry has experienced over the past few years, one of the key challenges we faced when going all-in for sustainability was finding like-minded organizations that share our common goals and core values. We pride ourselves on our integrity. We will continue to hold to our values and create a lasting impact on this industry.
Industry Leaders: As a woman, was it more complex for you to be a part of this huge industry? Can you share some experiences with us?
Alexia Cooper: As a woman in a male-dominated industry, the question about my journey frequently comes up for me. There have only been a handful of times where I feel that being a woman has negatively or positively impacted my experience in the industry. I look at any challenges as an opportunity to grow and create better solutions; I refer to myself as a solution finder. I believe my drive, determination, and focus have allowed me to push past the common misconceptions of my gender in this industry.
Industry Leaders: What are your plans for Bell Solar?
Alexia Cooper: At Bell Solar and Electrical Systems, our mission is to rewire the world to build a sustainable future. We plan to make a lasting impact in the industry by revolutionizing power availability and the construction industry as a whole. Our focus is to provide sustainable options for our many customers to come while simultaneously offering life-changing careers for our team. We believe in putting our people first, which includes each customer and team member.
