The US Auto industry was a veritable mare’s nest with over 14 million vehicles being recalled in just the first half of 2022. Chrysler-parent Stellantis’ Jeep Cherokee recall of nearly 219,000 SUVs globally is ripping the band-aid off the industry’s wound. Stellantis SUV recall is warranted to fire risks, beseeching owners to park vehicles outside until the recalls straighten out.
Stellantis Jeep Cherokee fire recall covers nearly 132,000 vehicles in the US, 3,000 in Mexico, 23,000 in Canada, and 60,500 outside North America. Tesla’s and Ford’s SUV recalls in 2022 ratified a distressing trend in the auto market.

Stellantis SUV fire risks recall covers Jeep Cherokee vehicles modeled from 2014 through 2016, with vehicles fitted with a power liftgate. The fear of an electrical short circuit in this power liftgate can potentially risk the Jeep Cherokee’s fire heedless of ‘on or off’ ignition.
According to a filing with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), this is the third recall since 2015 dwelling on the fire safety defect. Prior recall vehicles will still need the additional fix to be performed.
“Owners are advised to park outside, away from structures until the recall repair process reaches completion.”
Owner notification letters for the Stellantis Jeep Cherokee recall are slated to be mailed by June 30th, 2023. The NHTSA has urged auto owners to heed Stellantis’s warning of fire risks and abide by their advice of parking outside.
Failing due to an electrical short, the automaker described that the vehicles were built with a power liftgate module positioned in the vicinity of water intrusion. Stellantis already opened an investigation last year due to the rise of cargo compartment fires in its 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee vehicles.
The auto company is unaware of any injuries and accidents pertaining to the Stellantis Jeep Cherokee recall. Albeit, Stellantis has recognized 23 warranty claims, 50 customer assistance records, and 21 field reports plausibly connected to the recall issue.
