Microsoft seems to have caught the Valentine’s Day spirit by doling out a weekend–long gift of free access to all gameplay.
Earlier this week Microsoft published that Xbox Live subscribers, living in the U.S and Canada who don’t have a membership to Live Gold will get free access to all gameplay and entertainment apps through the service.
Assuming that you are an Xbox Live subscriber, you get full free access (entertainment apps and multiplayers gaming!) starting 12:01 am PT Valentine’s Day through 11:59 pm PT February 16. Throughout the weekend, clients will have the ability to play games that have online multiplayer characteristics and will additionally have the ability to gain access to the streaming media applications for the Xbox 360. Netflix or Hulu Plus users will require subscription to those specific services to access them. Along with that users can also video-chat through the Kinect add-on camera. Microsoft ran a similar promotion last April.
The deal comes just in time for the release of World of Tanks: Xbox 360 edition. Despite the fact that the game is free, regardless it requires an Xbox Live Gold membership. Xbox One users are out of luck as the free Xbox Live Gold weekend does not extend to Microsoft’s newest game console.
Xbox Live Gold costs $9.99 per month for a monthly recurring subscription, or you can pay $59.99 for a one-year subscription and $24.99 for three months. Currently Microsoft is offering a 33% discount on 12 months of Xbox Live Gold subscription, dropping the cost from $59.99 to $39.99.
